CT RUSH - Select FAQs
Young athletes who want to advance in their playing careers during the off-season can seek out age- and skill-appropriate soccer camps in the Connecticut Rush Select system. Players can participate in a camp that focuses on specific skills and positions, or they can choose a summer soccer camp that combines improving these skills with intensive game play, including team and individual techniques.
The coaches running a youth soccer camp at any level focus on teaching age-appropriate skills correctly and safely, as well as encouraging good habits and attitudes. Coaches show players how to warm up, stretch, hydrate, and cool down, as well as how to wear and care for their equipment. Players can learn and practice skills such as footwork, dribbling, passing, shooting, juggling, communicating, and positioning at stations on the field to help them put those skills to work in games. Some games may be practice-oriented, and some games are competitive, putting each player and team in the running for awards.
Soccer camp can be an enjoyable, demanding, and fulfilling experience. It's important that a player arrive at camp healthy, hydrated, rested, and properly fed to avoid depletion and injury. It's also important to be prepared for mental and physical exertion and to enter camp with the mindset of perseverance, endurance, positivity, and goal-setting. Players should ensure that their equipment fits properly and that they have extra cleats, socks, snacks, water bottles, and a way to take notes during camp.
